Executive Branch

May 5, 2009
Gov. Granholm issued Executive Order 2009-22 aimed at addressing the state’s expected FY09 budget shortfall.  The order achieves $304 million in general fund savings without cutting key areas like education, health care and job creation efforts.

In April, Gov. Granholm’s office released a comprehensive guide for state agencies providing guidance on the use of ARRA funding.  The report includes information regarding reporting requirements, compliance and contract management, financial reporting and transparency requirements among other things.

Gov. Granholm attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Michigan’s first ARRA funded transportation project on April 24th.  The project, to repair and resurface a section of northbound I-75, is one of nearly 800 state and local projects that will be funded by $873 million in stimulus funding.

A recent press release from the office of Gov. Granholm states that "though complete details of the federal plan's impact on Michigan may not be known for several weeks, the governor indicated that in many instances, the dollars will flow to the state under existing formulas that determine how much funding is available and the type of projects that qualify". Leslee Fritz, a member of the governor's executive office communications' team, will oversee the newly created Michigan Economic Recovery Office.
